DELIVERY OF SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT

TRANSPORTATION OF 40 DUMP TRUCKS
FROM THE YAMAL PENINSULA TO MOSCOW

ORGANIZATION OF TRANSPORTATION OF
ROAD CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT
FROM THE YAMAL PENINSULA TO MOSCOW

At the end of the summer, we completed a project to relocate two shipments of road construction equipment from the Far North to the central part of the Russian Federation.

Cargo: KAMAZ 65222-6012-53 all-terrain dump trucks for operation in the Far North and in conditions of heavy terrain.

Dimensions (L x W x H): 8.5 x 2.55 x 3.45 m, Weight: 19.5 t.

In early spring, our company’s employees began organizing the transportation of special equipment from the Yamal Peninsula. The road construction equipment was stored and partially used at the Bovanenkovskoye oil and gas field. Our company’s task was to organize the transportation of equipment from the Yamal Peninsula to Moscow.

The area of the deposit is characterized by harsh natural and climatic conditions, the presence of permafrost strata up to 300 m thick. Having worked out the entire route, taking into account the natural features, the geographical location necessary for the transportation of equipment, points and places of transshipment, the peculiarities of securing goods on different types of transport, the organization of storage and acceptance of special equipment, our specialists began to organize transportation.

In May 2023, we started transporting the first batch of dump trucks, which was carried out according to the scheme: road transportation — sea transportation — road transportation.

When the thawed equipment was prepared for transportation, the route had already been developed and all stages of transportation, transshipment and storage had been agreed upon.

At the first stage, 22 units of special equipment were transported by road from the Yamal Peninsula (Bovanenkovskoye oil and gas condensate field) through the winter road to the Kara Arctic terminal located near the Kharasavey port point, where they were stored until the opening of navigation.

In the second stage, the dump trucks were alternately loaded onto two naval vessels at the Kharasavey port point and shipped to the port of Arkhangelsk. Both vessels arrived at the port of Arkhangelsk, where the cargo was unloaded and moved to the rear open part of the port for temporary storage.

The third stage was the repair of machinery and special equipment. Then the KAMAZ 65222-6012-53 all-terrain dump trucks, designed to operate in the Far North and in conditions of heavy terrain, were delivered to Moscow on trawls, but some units of equipment overcame the 1,227-kilometer path under their own power. The goods were delivered to the customer at the base in Moscow.

DELIVERY OF SPECIALIZED
EQUIPMENT

All 18 units of special equipment were prepared for transportation in a multimodal manner according to the scheme: road transportation — rail transportation — road transportation. The equipment was prepared in advance for the transfer: it was cleared of ice and snow, and it was brought into good technical condition.

At the first stage, 18 dump trucks were transported from their base at the Bovanenkovskoye oil and gas condensate field (the largest gas field on the Yamal Peninsula, located 40 kilometers from the coast of the Kara Sea) to a temporary storage site near the village of Bovanenkovo. After all the equipment arrived at the temporary storage base, we started the second stage.

The second stage is transportation of special equipment by rail. The KAMAZ trucks were delivered from the BVH to the Karskaya railway station, and upon arrival they were loaded onto railway platforms prepared for transportation. The dump trucks were loaded onto platforms using crane equipment, unhooked and tied up, and work was carried out to prepare the equipment for transportation by rail along the Karskaya— Obskaya — Labytnangi—Lyubertsy route.

In the third stage, we received special equipment in the Moscow region at the Lyubertsy and Boys railway stations. Special equipment was shipped in batches due to the heavy traffic on the Yamal railway. Therefore, the arrival of all units of cargo also took several days.

We delivered crane equipment with a lifting capacity of 200 tons and vehicles for transporting dump trucks from Lyubertsy and Boys stations to the customer’s base in Moscow. The cargo positions were loaded onto low-bed trawls and secured for further transportation by road from the Moscow region to Moscow.

Upon arrival of all 40 units at the Stone-XXI storage facility, the equipment was unloaded using a one-hundred-ton ZOOMLION truck crane.

Transportation was completed in the first days of autumn.

During the transportation of a large batch of oversized construction machinery, we performed the following works:

  • developing route options;
  • coordination of transportation stages;
  • coordination of overload stages;
  • coordination and organization of storage locations;
  • definition of modes of transport and types of vehicles;
  • drawing up a time schedule and stages of work;
  • ensuring the shipment of goods from the place of loading, delivery to the place of delivery and unloading;
  • registration and receipt of all necessary documents accompanying transportation;
  • performing loading, reloading and unloading of goods, as well as related work along the entire route.
  • provision of necessary fastening, laying and separation materials and devices;
