In January of this year, our company started implementing a project for transporting a power transformer of the TDC type – 250 000/220-73 weighing 216 tons, dimensions 8580x3185x4390 mm. Before the start of the transportation of heavy oversized cargo, the engineers of STONE-LOGISTICS LLC drew up a project for the production of works (PPR) taking into account all possible factors to ensure the safety of cargo during transportation by rail.
The starting point in the Baikal Energy project was the coordination of schemes for loading, transporting and unloading heavy power equipment. And also the direction of an explanatory note to begin sending a platform-type 3925 railway conveyor with a load capacity of 220 tons, which is the only one in Russia, to the place of loading. Before the transportation of the power transformer the dismantling of attachments, partial oil drain and installation of a gas ramp were carried out to ensure safe transportation.
After loading the heavy equipment onto the railway conveyor, the fastening works were completed, shock fixation sensors were installed, all the necessary accompanying documents were received, and the cargo was sent to the place of unloading.
The main task for the company “STONE-LOGISTICS” on the project of delivery of power equipment was efficiency in carrying out each stage of work. At the time when the rolling stock with a 216-ton power transformer was on the way, a team of riggers with equipment arrived at the unloading site and performed preparatory work at the cargo acceptance site.
Unloading and moving of the transformer was planned to be carried out in a rigging way. Rigging is the main method of loading/unloading heavy cargo in cramped conditions. In this case, there are many external factors on the territory of the enterprise that do not allow the use of crane equipment for reloading and unloading.
Unloading by the rigging method requires care and patience, as well as preliminary preparation of the unloading site. Due to the high qualification and professional skills of the rigging crew who arrived at the place of unloading of power equipment, as well as good rigging equipment, preparatory work was carried out in a short time, just in time for the arrival of the oversized cargo.
Upon arrival of a platform-type 3925 railway conveyor with a power transformer of the TDC type-250 000/220-73 weighing 216 tons to the place of unloading, a team of riggers assembled a sleeper cage consisting of lumber of different sizes, next to the railway tracks to the level of the bottom of the transformer horizontally. With the help of hydraulic jacks installed on the railway platform, the transformer was lifted to place rails under it, with release to the opposite side of the platform. Then the transformer was released using the same jacks, and hydraulic pushers were installed on the rails. With the help of a pumping station connected to a horizontal pusher, the heavy-weight power equipment was moved step by step to the sleeper cage from the rolling stock.
All the customer’s tasks are performed in strict accordance with the terms of reference, deadlines and stages of work. Each oversized cargo is unique in its own way and requires a well-developed work plan and compliance with all the requirements of the project documentation.
The next step was to carefully lower the power transformer, removing from under it the bars of the sleeper cage 5 cm on each side, maintaining its horizontal position and preventing a roll of more than 2% of the slope. As a result of the rigging of the power transformer, the load was installed on the rolling rails and delivered to the regular installation site at the power plant.
